Ingredients

  • 4 bone-in skin-on chicken thighs (or breasts)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder optional for extra heat
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce your choice
  • Fresh parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and rub with olive oil. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and chili powder.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place the seasoned chicken in the air fryer basket, skin-side down. Cook for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • After flipping, brush BBQ sauce on the chicken and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Let the chicken rest for a few minutes, then garnish with parsley and serve.

Notes

For an extra crispy skin, try air frying the chicken for an additional 3-5 minutes at the end of the cooking time. If you prefer a sweeter BBQ flavor, add a tablespoon of honey to the BBQ sauce before brushing it on the chicken. Enjoy your air fryer BBQ chicken with a side of coleslaw or roasted veggies!
