Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • ½ cup chocolate chips optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • In another bowl, whisk the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil until smooth. Add the milk and stir to combine.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until smooth. The batter will be thick.
  • Slowly mix in the boiling water to thin the batter, then fold in the chocolate chips (optional).
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool before serving.

Notes

For a richer taste, top your chocolate fudge cake with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can also add walnuts for an extra crunch! This cake keeps well for up to 3 days at room temperature.
