These Crock Pot French Onion Meatballs are rich, cheesy, and unbelievably easy. With tender meatballs, caramelized onions, and melty Gruyère, it’s a slow-cooked comfort meal that beginner home cooks will love.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 medium yellow onions sliced
  • 26 oz frozen meatballs
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 oz packet brown gravy mix
  • 2 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • cups Gruyère cheese grated

Instructions
 

  • Place sliced onions at the bottom of a 6-quart Crock Pot. Add frozen meatballs on top.
  • In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, gravy mix, garlic, pepper, thyme, and vinegar.
  • Pour the broth mixture over the meatballs and onions.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 2½–3½ hours or LOW for 5–6 hours.
  • Whisk water and cornstarch in a small bowl, then stir into the Crock Pot.
  • Sprinkle grated Gruyère cheese on top and cover for 10 minutes, until melted.
  • Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
  • Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

Tip: Slice onions evenly to ensure even cooking.
