- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup whole milk or 2%
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ tsp salt or to taste
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Pinch of nutmeg optional
Melt butter in a skillet over low-medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
In a bowl, whisk cream and flour until smooth. Pour into the skillet, then add milk. Whisk for 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
Reduce heat to low. Gradually add Parmesan, whisking until melted and creamy.
Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Simmer for 1–2 minutes until thickened.
Toss with pasta or serve immediately!
Tip: For extra silkiness, use freshly grated Parmesan—pre-shredded cheese can make the sauce grainy.
Variation: Add sautéed mushrooms or grilled chicken to your Alfredo sauce recipe for a heartier meal.
