Ingredients
  

For the Donuts:

  • 1/2 cup warm water 110°F
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 2 tsp dry active yeast
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

For the Maple Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp corn syrup
  • 2 tsp maple extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix warm water, warm milk, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast. Let sit 10 mins until frothy.
  • In a stand mixer, add flour, salt, sugar, eggs, and yeast mixture. Mix, then add softened butter. Knead 8 mins.
  • Transfer dough to a greased bowl. Cover and rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  • Punch down, reshape, and rise again for another hour.
  • Roll dough to ¾-inch thickness, cut into 12 bars, and proof 30 mins.
  • Heat oil to 360–375°F. Fry bars 2 mins per side. Cool on paper towels.
  • For glaze, melt butter and stir in brown sugar, milk, and corn syrup. Simmer, then mix in maple extract and powdered sugar.
  • Dip cooled donuts into glaze and let set on rack.

Notes

Tip: Glaze the bars while slightly warm for a smooth finish.
Variation: Add crumbled bacon on top of the glaze for a sweet-savory twist on Homemade Maple Donut Bars.
