Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.25 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract optional

Frosting

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3-4 tablespoons milk regular, low- or non-fat are fine
  • 1 drop green food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon green sanding sugar

Instructions
 

Making the Cookie Dough

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix on low until a dough forms.
    2.5 cups all-purpose flour

Rolling and Cutting

  • Divide the dough and roll out between wax paper.
    2.5 cups all-purpose flour

Baking

  • Cut into shapes and bake in a preheated oven until edges are just golden.
    2.5 cups all-purpose flour

Making the Frosting

  • Beat butter, mix in powdered sugar and milk to desired consistency.
    1.25 cups powdered sugar
